Users who can upgrade from Crimson 3.0 or 3.1 to 3.2 are encouraged to do so.

We have tested updating Graphite units running Crimson 3.1 systems to the newly released 3.2 over Ethernet connections with varying success. PAY ATTENTION TO IP ADDRESSES – the 3.2 download addressing is no longer automatic and must be set correctly in the Link/Options menu. We have seen units transfer the updated bootloader to the terminal, but lose their IP address in the process – these units had to be reloaded via USB. Obviously, if physical access to the unit is a challenge, this could be a showstopper. IT MAY MAKE SENSE TO USE THE V3.1 UPDATE FOR ANY V3.1 UNIT WHICH IS ONLY ACCESSIBLE REMOTELY.

We have also had units which updated to 3.2 via Ethernet without any issues, so it’s definitely possible for it to work – just be prepared to manually access the unit if the update fails for some reason.

We have become aware of an issue with the firmware in some Red Lion HMI (Human-Machine Interface) devices. As the time and date progressed to 00:00, Friday, 22 March 2024, some of the units would freeze up and display an error screen. When reset, the units show the date and time as early 1997, causing graphs to display incorrectly and indicating the wrong dates on event logs.
Red Lion has indicated that they are aware of the issue and are working on a fix – we will post more information as we receive it.

Our preliminary investigation shows that a 32-bit unsigned integer overflow would occur at 01:17:34, 22 March 2024 if the internal “Epoch” (start of timekeeping) were set to 1 January 1997, and “Ticks” were counted in 200ms increments (5 per second.) If this is indeed the cause, a fix should be fairly quick for them to implement.

Any customer who is experiencing these issues with their Red Lion devices can contact us at the address below and we will schedule service to correct the issue once a fix is available.

Jenariah is pleased to announce that on 24 August, 2023 we received Letters Patent from the
United States Patent and Trademark Office for our Conductivity Measurement Device:
US Patent #11,733,278 B2, invented by Philip Salkie, our lead engineer.
This circuit was originally developed for the measurement of the electrical conductivity of

ultra-pure water, but can be adapted for use with any conductive liquid,
including highly corrosive mixtures.

We provide hardware and software design, production, and installation of control systems in venues ranging from backup generators to cargo ships, cheese dairies to industrial laundries, poultry processing plants, defense laboratories, and data centers. We also design and build broadcast tally systems for mobile and studio installations. Implementations include PLC, operator interface terminals, embedded Linux computers, and SCADA.

Industries covered include aerospace technologies, food handling and production, fuel oil and emergency power generation, pharmaceuticals, semiconductor equipment, shipping, specialty gases, steel mill equipment, television broadcasting, wastewater processing and reuse.

Related support includes Linux, display systems, and general programming.
